Dance directors

Christine and Ellis Rogers have been teaching early dance for nearly 25 years. Ellis carries out research for the team and has translated several books on dance from the original French. They have taught all periods from 1450-1920 but the 19th century is their research specialisation, based on their comprehensive collection of original dance books and manuscripts.

Christine and Ellis have taught on summer schools for the Dolmetsch Historical Dance Society and for Nonsuch Historical Dance. Ellis has taught by invitation in Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany and the USA.

The Rogers are advisors on 19th century social dance to the Royal Ballet School and to the Dance Research Committee of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.
